Kitchen Makeover

Taste and see that the LORD is good. Psalm 34:8

My poor husband...I am always changing things around in our house. This time, it's the kitchen! Lucky for me, he is very patient and an awesome handy man!

I got several of these wood crates at a yard sale for $1.00 each!  I love them as shelves!!

Here's another crate I put above our little coffee bar.

I found this antique pot lid in our attic left by a previous owner! Thought it was perfect to hang my apron from.

Another crate I used to store our cereal & bags of chips above the refrigerator.

Used my Silhouette to cut out these vinyl letters.

Love these glass jars I got at a yard sale for $1.00 each!

Crate I got for .25 cents & antique cookie cutters also .25 cents at a thrift store!

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31

A Kind and Loving Wife

Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do... but how much love we put in that action. ~ Mother Theresa

Here is an awesome reminder of what it means to be a LOVING and KIND wife:

The following post is copied from Grace Full Mama

About a year ago, I sent my husband a list of things that I thought that he might like to see me do around the house.  I asked him to put the list according to priority, from greatest to least.

Here is the exact list that I sent to him:
 -clean, ironed laundry
-yummy meals including lunches
-fresh, homemade bread for your sandwiches
-keeping up with emails
-thank you notes
- outreach in the community
-hospitality/ having people over
- making sure there are cookies or something yummy for you when you get home (including tea)
-a clean, picked up house

And, this was his exact response:
Thanks, but I would rather have you put aside anything/everything you have to do in order to start each day with the assumption that I LOVE YOU, and therefore anything I do or say is given the benefit of the doubt that I LOVE YOU.

Get enough rest and say no to enough activities so that you have the energy to be NICE TO ME (and the kids) when I’m home.

Honestly, I appreciate the rest of it, but don’t really care that much if it comes at the expense of the first two things up at the top of the list.  Maybe you think that I think you’re a bad wife or mom if you don’t do this stuff. If so, that is wrong. I would much rather have a messy house, make my own lunches from white, store-bought bread, have no snacks, etc. etc., but have a nice, happy wife who likes me, than the other way around.

So, to sum it all up, showing me you love me has more to do with WHO you are than what you do!  It’s my best friend I fell in love with and want to hang out with, not my maid!”

You see, I was so busy doing things for my husband, trying to be the perfect wife, that I was getting it all wrong.  I was so tired and stressed that I was snappy, unkind, and impatient.  And the only thing my dear husband wanted was a girlfriend!  Am I saying that it’s wrong to do things for your husband or family? Of course not!  But I am saying to think about keeping being kind as the TOP priority.

I have learned my lesson.  I have stepped back in many areas in my life in order to have margin and rest, so that I am not over-stressed and my husband {mostly} has a kind, gentle, loving wife.

How about you?  Do you struggle with the stress of getting everything done?  Can I challenge you to put aside some things that might be good in order that you might be able to ensure that you are a kind, fun, loving wife?

My challenge for you today is to put down the duties and be kind!

Guest Room ReDo

Since I have my new Booth at Golden Goodies in Cambria, I needed more room for all my crafting! So I decided to switch the guest room & craft room.

Here is the new craft room/ office! It's a work in progress and definitely needs a little more organization, but I love all the space!

Here is the new guest room!

The piano bench I found at an estate sale for $2.00. The tall window in back I got free from Craigslist. Love the two together! :)

I also got this window free from the same person on Craigslist. I used my Silhouette to cut out the vinyl letters.

This cute little crate came from a yard sale for $1.00! I got a few more that I'm going to hang in my craft room for storage!

Pizzeria Date Night!

Since Derrick had his surgery a week ago, he hasn't really been able to do much or go anywhere. So, I decided I wanted to give him a special date in at home!

I set up the table before I left for work this morning, so that when he got up he would be surprised to see it. I had the table set, crayons and paper to draw while we waited for the pizza to cook, roses from our garden and even rolled up the silverware in a napkin.

I made the invitation to look like a Grand Opening of a Pizzeria!

The pizza we made was a homemade pizza!! (See recipe below) We also had some Italian music playing in the background to set the mood.

While we waited for the pizza to took, we drew pictures for each other.

I drew Derrick a picture of us holding a heart shaped pizza.

He drew me a picture of our house and us & our dog out in the garden.

Finally it was time to eat the delicious pizza!! It seriously was one of the best pizzas I have eaten! Derrick agreed!

The best part of the whole evening was when Derrick said - "You make date nights so fun!"  I love him! :)

Here is the recipe I used to make the dough: Easiest Pizza Dough in the World

For the sauce we just used a can of tomato sauce and stirred in pizza seasoning. We then topped the pizza with mozzarella cheese and pepperonis. Follow the dough recipe for baking instructions.
