Bible Verse Kitchen Decor

Psalm 34:8- Taste and see that the LORD is good.

I saw this verse on a set of recipe cards once, and thought it would be perfect for my kitchen!

I put some burlap in a frame and cut out some vinyl with my Silhouette. I stuck the letters to the glass on the front of the frame.

Weekend Fun

This weekend has been great! We've been really busy lately and it was nice being able to spend time with Derrick and our families and enjoy some relaxation.

Friday night we went to Walker's Bluff. We listened to the band they had playing and drank some wine. It was a great date night!

Saturday we got up early and went to some yard sales with my parents. We found a few things including these cute jars we are using for our homemade taco and fajita seasonings.

Saturday afternoon we went over to Derrick's parents for a grill out and Saturday night we made Quesadillas to celebrate Cinco De Mayo!

Sunday we went to church and then I worked outside doing some things around the yard. We now have TWO peaches growing on our peach tree!! We also went to the Carterville Beach!

Hope you all had a great weekend and have a great week!

Colossians 3:23- And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord.

Old Trunk Makeover

Remember this old trunk Derrick's grandma gave me?
After a coat of primer and 2 coats of paint, it's finished!

I also sanded the edges a little to give it more of an antique look.

What do you think?

A Gentle and Quiet Spirit

1 Peter 3:3-4
Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.

Our society focuses a lot on outward appearance. God calls us however, to focus more on our inner beauty and what's on the inside.  We can show our inner beauty by being humble, gentle, modest and having self-control.

1 Timothy 2:9-10
Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness--with good works.

Part of inner beauty is knowing how to dress on the outside. God calls women to dress modestly. This doesn't mean you have to cover up your whole body, but be cautious how you do dress. The way women dress, act and speak can influence a man toward godliness or sin. Only display yourself to your husband! :)

Proverbs 31:21-22; 24-25
For all her household is clothed with scarlet. She makes tapestry for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple.....She makes belted linen garments and sashes to sell to the merchants. Strength and dignity are her clothing, she shall rejoice in time to come.

I love this verse. The Proverbs 31 woman knows how to look good, but she also knows that strength and dignity is one of the most important things she can cloth herself in.

A woman who is characterized by all of these things (a gentle and quiet spirit, modest, self-controlled, dignified) is precious to God, a blessing to her husband and a joy to all who are around her.

Are you that woman?

Thrifty Finds

Proverbs 14:1-"The wise woman builds her house.."

This past weekend Derrick's grandparents had a yard sale. They kindly gave us a few things for free! :) My favorite item we got was this awesome old trunk!! I believe it was his grandma's great uncle's.

I love that it has two compartments on top and then storage underneath. Can't wait to get this thing cleaned up and painted! Stay tuned for before and after pictures!

SIU also had their annual flea market this weekend. I found this frame for 25 cents and this little antique jug for $1.00!

I LOVE this desk! It was only $15.00 and has such unique character. After a fresh coat of paint it will look great in my craft room! :)

Have you found any great thrifty finds recently?!

Kitchen Decor and Organization

Proverbs 14:1--"The wise woman builds her house.."

Here is a shelf Derrick built me! I found all of the white pitchers and other items at thrift stores!

I love this little box for tea bags.

Little coffee bar.. the coffee mug holder I got at Goodwill for $1!

I used my Silhouette to cut out brown vinyl letters to label what is in these jars (Georgia font)

Here is above the kitchen sink.

I put burlap in the frame and use a dry erase marker on the glass to plan out our meals for the week.
This is a crate I got at a resale shop. I hot glued the scrabble letters on and used the scrabble tile holder to hold a recipe. (This keeps the recipe from being on the counter and getting dirty or wet while cooking)

The hooks holding the measuring cups were also from the same resale shop. They came in a pack of three. You can see what I did with the other one Here.

How do you like to stay organized in your kitchen?
