DIY Trunk Coffee Table

I was at a yard sale earlier this summer and spotted this old rusty trunk! I asked the lady how much it was and she said, how about $2.00? yes please! I had been wanting to make a coffee table for the new house and thought this would be perfect.

I cleaned it up using an SOS pad and tried to get as much of the rust off as I could. I then painted a couple coats of white on it and my hubby helped me add these legs we picked up at Home Depot for around $2.00 each.

We also picked up a piece of 1/2" plywood and cut it to fit the top of the table. The cushions were a yard sale find but you can find them in the fabric section of your craft store. I hot glued the cushions to the plywood so it would stick when I turned it over to add the fabric.

I forgot to get a picture of putting the fabric on, but I flipped the plywood over and stapled the fabric to the bottom of it. The fabric is muslin I got at Wal-Mart. It was about $3.00 a yard.

 Here is the after!

I love how it turned out and can't wait to get it into our new home!!
